There are no new comers wanting to learn the art of sign lettering, I guess it is because the younger generation is living in a super fast world of get rich quick!
The vinyl letter has basically stole the scene in the last twenty years or so with lesser demand for
the actual sign painter, so computerized sign making took over to some extent. But there was and is a vast number of people who still prefer a colorful, well laid out sign to represent their biz or whatever. However there was some good sign painters that used vinyl and dressed it up, so it wouldn't be just a simple single dimension sign with no character. So the old art of sign painting was still alive at this point, But the drawback to this is very simple, a lot of these experienced painters
have retired or expired and in their wake had no one to fill their shoes.
I have talked with quite a few that actually wanted to learn, but they were older and was tied down with working full time jobs to support a family and simply didn't have time that it takes to
learn. It takes time to learn any new trade, and this they didn't have. I have worked with some individuals and taught them some sign painting basics, but they weren't patient enough for the task and give up, just when they were getting started good.
Well after fifty years of painting myself, I realized before seeing this art form perish, I would like to contribute to the continuance of it. So I put together a training package for basic sign painting for a few bucks to cover some of my expense, with support to help and guide someone
wanting to learn. I knew that just reading a book wasn't enough for the new sign painters !
If you think you would like to be a sign artist you can go to my website for lot more info,
find about me and consider the options i offer at www.signpaintingbasics.net

Chasy
